Zussy
Zussy, pronounced Susie, is from the highland town of Cajabamba, in the district of Cajamarca, Peru. She was born on April 12, 1985 and has completed secondary school and has 2 boisterous sons, Deivid & Daniel, both of whom frequent CESAPU - Centro de Salud Publica (AKA our knitting workshop). She lives right next door to us!
In order to provide for her family, she also labors in the “chakras” or farms. She recently learned how to knit in 2018, and refers to it “beautiful and relaxing”. Despite her relative inexperience, Zussy is one of our most talented knitters. She is detail oriented and a natural leader. For this reason, she is one of our four team leaders. She is quiet yet strong and has a laugh that can light up the room.
Zussy is a great cook, and her favorite dish to make is “aji de gallina”, a traditional Peruvian cuisine.
